Becoming a Locavore

Locavore is a popular new term for someone who eats within a certain radius of their home. By doing so they commit to supporting the local economy and farmer, living more sustainably and eating more densely nutritious food.

When you eat food that has been shipped from outside your radius, the produce is likely picked when it is not yet ripe, shipped up to thousands of miles and sprayed with chemicals to ensure it ripens by the time it reaches your grocery store. Think of the fuel, the polution, the chemicals and the loss of nutrients!

Becoming a Locavore has never been more easy. Find your nearest farmer's market or farm stand ( http://www.localharvest.org/ ) or check out our LOCAL board next time you are in. We offer information on plenty of organic and natural farmers in the surrounding area.
