What does it mean
to attain true wellness? For each individual, this can mean a life with less
pain, less inflammation, more energy, more focus, more happiness, more love; perhaps,
all of the above. Whether you are seeking balance in your physical life, emotional
life, or both, one of the primary factors contributing to whether or not you
attain true wellness is rooted in what foods you choose to fuel your body with.
OILED & OPTIMIZED:
From
the physical mechanisms which allow the heart to pump, lungs to breath, and
brain to think, to carrying out complex “invisible” processes’ such as liver
detoxification, immune system regulation, and emotional stability, what you
choose to put into your body has a direct impact on how well the “machine” that
we like to call a body functions day in and day out. When our well-oiled
“machines” are bombarded with an array of stressors- from poor dietary choices,
underlying/hidden health conditions, environmental toxins, emotional stress, etc.-
systems start to fail, and life as we know it begins to slow down; sometimes
even coming to a halt.
BARRELED OVER:
In his teachings in “The Swiss Secret,” Dr. Rau
likens the body to an oil barrel. At birth, we are an empty barrel, spacious,
clear, and open for filling with whatever we choose. As we grow, we are exposed
– both willingly, and unwillingly- to a variety of factors. Food and chemical toxins,
heavy metals, viral/bacterial loads, energy-disruptors, pollutants- all begin
to clog up our once pristine barrels, slowing down the natural paces at which
our body optimally functions, degrading our cellular health day in and day out.
As life goes on, we learn to adjust to the burdening load, maintaining vital
functions at a sub-optimal level. So you may be able to get out of bed and go
to work, but your energy may be shot, your mood ever changing, and levels of
inflammation-from weight to pain- rapidly increasing. At some point, the barrel
begins to overflow, the toxins win, and a state of dis-ease settles in.
CLEANING UP & CLEARING OUT:
Alas, the outcome may seem dim, but
fret not! We all have and hold the power to overcome disease, and while it may
take some longer than others, but with
some help, we can clear out the “gunk.” Remember
the analogy of our bodies being “well-oiled machines?” Well not only can the
body generate diseased states, but it also has the incredible ability to heal
and regenerate itself. One of the most powerful and pain-free ways you can take
hold of your health and reverse the overflow is to reduce your toxic load,
sometimes the easiest being changing what you put onto your fork!

will reboot your system and kick start the process of whole-body healing.

True Wellness Biological Health
Cool, Calm, and Collected
Coconut Elixir
Makes approx. 4
cups
4 cups unsweetened
organic coconut water
¾ cup frozen
organic blueberries, thawed – may use fresh if you have them!
1 bunch organic
mint, (approx. ½ cup)
1/3 organic sliced
English cucumber OR 2 organic Persian cucumbers, sliced
Juice of 1 lemon
Remove leaves from
mint. In a large glass pitcher, place blueberries, lemon juice, and mint. With
a wooden spoon, muddle the ingredients to form a chunky paste. Pour coconut
water overtop, and allow flavors to meld in the refrigerator for at least 2
hours, or overnight. To serve, pour overtop ice cubes if preferred, and garnish
with a sprig of mint.
SUGAR, SUGAR: Craving something sweeter? Add 1-3 drops of
Organic
Liquid Stevia or spoon 1 tsp. local Heirloom Acre
honey into each glass before pouring. ** Remember, stevia is about 100-300x
sweeter than table sugar, so a little goes a long way!
